I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I’m getting to the fun part of this vintage chic bedroom makeover and starting to add accessories. This week was all about the curtains. Or should I say it was all about making the curtains. In my normal fashion, I couldn’t go out and buy them, I had to create them from something repurposed. I’ll show you how I created it and the progress made this week on my daughters bedroom makeover for the One Room Challenge.
If you stumbled upon my corner of the internet world from the One Room Challenge site, I wanted to say Welcome! My name is Lindsey and I’m just a souther gal with a desire to create. My goal for Repurpose and Upcycle is easy DIY projects, furniture flips and budget friendly home decor tips. I’m glad you’re here!

I knew from the beginning of this room makeover that I wanted to create a faux roman shade. I created this type of curtain in our previous home and I knew I had to recreate in our rustic beach cottage. My daughters bedroom makeover was the place for it!
I created a YouTube video with all the details on how I created a no sew faux roman shade (or valence) from a shower curtain. Yes I really did say shower curtain! There is a reason I didn’t go out and buy fabric……Check out my video or my blog post for all the details.
If you want to read about how I created a no sew valence from a shower curtain come on over and check out my post HERE.
I’ll recap this faux roman shade project in two words: Fabric Tape!
I love this stuff. I have found so many awesome projects to create from it! I won’t get into too many details or past projects, but I do love this stuff.
This project was fairly short and simple. Let me show you the finished product!
It’s funny how much a room can change once you add a pretty window treatment!
Now that I’ve shown you all about my DIY no sew roman shade or valence from a shower curtain, let me share some accessories I added to her room this week.
- Bedding! I LOVE this bedding. It’s from a company called Beddy’s and if you haven’t heard of them please go check them out. This is called the Vintage Blush and I think it’s safe to say these bedspreads turn the room from vintage to chic. The best part is that they zip like a sleeping bag so making the bed is no chore anymore!
- Of course the fabulous new DIY roman shades
- Those cute little pendant light covers that I’m using as decoration! A little tip; This might be the cheapest way to get a “hanging chandelier.” These were both around 25$ each! Score!
And that’s about all for this week! I’m about done with all my DIY’s for this vintage chic bedroom makeover.
See y’all next week,
Lindsey**
