Vintage Chic Bedroom Makeover (One Room Challenge week 2)

Here we are in week 2 of the One Room Challenge and I’m ready to get going on my daughter’s vintage chic bedroom makeover. This week I’m excited to add something I’ve been wanting to do for a few years now…..WALLPAPER! Wallpaper has come full circle as far as trends go. We used to plaster entire homes in wallpaper. Remember when every single wall (even kitchen backsplashes) used to have wallpaper? Thankfully we’ve come a long way since then. I’m going to share with y’all how I added an accent wall to my daughters room in wallpaper.Vintage Chic girls bedroom makeover

If you stumbled upon my corner of the internet world from the One Room Challenge site, I wanted to say Welcome! My name is Lindsey and I’m just a souther gal with a desire to create. My goal for Repurpose and Upcycle is easy DIY projects, furniture flips and budget friendly home decor tips. I’m glad you’re here!

Let’s talk about wallpaper for a minute shall we?

Back in the 1980’s and 1990’s we would cover every square inch of a room in wallpaper. Today, though,  I’m seeing more and more “hints” of wallpaper like an accent wall. Speaking of accent walls, I’ve decided to create a wallpaper accent wall in my daughters bedroom!

Above is the wall where I decided to add an “accent” wall. This was before we added the two twin vintage beds.

Here it is looking a tiny bit better with the twin beds. Still not great.

Then comes wallpaper…..

When I was choosing a wallpaper, I had three requirements:

  • affordable
  • looks good
  • peel and stick

It was HARD to find all three. Wallpaper is expensive y’all, especially the peel and stick type.

My purpose for using the peel and stick was, well,  let’s be honest, I’m sure I’ll want to redecorate within the next 5- 10 years. Have you ever removed regular glue wallpaper? If you have then enough said! You get my point.

I finally fell upon a product from a company called Repeel Wallpaper.

They create beautiful peel and stick wallpaper at a great price! You can find their products at places like Wayfair and Walmart.

Since my daughter’s room has a dark blue dresser and pink accents, I thought the color  Damask in the Navy and Cream would look really nice.

It’s funny how much dimension wallpaper gives a room! What do you think?

This room is already feeling a little more “vintage chic” with the new wallpaper.

Thanks for following along with my daughters vintage chic bedroom makeover.

Stay tuned, next week I’ll be transforming that little desk below the window.

It’s starting to come together and I can’t wait for the reveal.
