Honestly, does anyone really decorate for a season other than Christmas? Other than throwing a few pumpkins around at Halloween, who has time to rearrange their decor every time a new season rolls around? Can “changing your decor” with the seasons be effortless? I think it can, and I hope to help you with a few quick tips on how to decorate for fall.
One of the easiest ways I have personally found to create a warm and inviting Fall space is with signs. A cozy home used to always consist of a home with lots of great artwork and pieces on the wall. Today, though, it seems that the style is trending more towards decorative signs with writings having to do with the seasons. Seriously, how hard is it to throw a sing up on your mantel or shelves! Oh and what a difference it will make. If it’s not in yout budget to buy a “seasonal sign,” it can be super inexpensive to make one. This was one of the easiest signs I have ever made for our FALL TABLESCAPE. Materials to complete this sign:
- a scrap piece of wood
- chalkboard paint
Method: Paint 2 or 3 coats of chalkboard paint on a scrap piece of wood, let it dry overnight, and use chalk to write a fun seasonal message! Y’all, this was virtually a free project (I had all materials on hand), and I can erase the writing and change it up with whatever new saying I want depending on the season.
Just because Halloween has come and gone, doesn’t mean you can’t still decorate with a few pumpkins! I think white pumpkins with a little greenery add warmth to any space. Now, just because I still have a few small white pumpkins on display, doesn’t mean I agree with keeping the big orange pumpkins out! When Halloween comes and goes, the big orange pumpkins should come and go to. For my FALL TABLESCAPE though, I still keep a few of the white pumpkins for added fall touches. It doesn’t hurt to keep these out of storage until after Thanksgiving. Anybody with me here or am I just crazy?
One more thing about those little white pumpkins; don’t they add so much character to a FALL TABLE SETTING! If you haven’t noticed, I have some recurring themes in my fall decor to create a cozy environment:
- Warm colors like browns and earth tones
- pops of white
One thing to note when decorating anything for a certain season; try to keep consistent with a simple color scheme. This year, in most of my FALL TABLESCAPES or FALL DECOR, I’ve stayed with a color scheme of green (mainly greenery), brown (neutrals with wood) and a touch of white or blue. This really creates a cohesive and eye pleasing environment.
My last piece of FALL inspiration is my entryway. You can see a full post on how I transformed this space (and how you can too) here. I wanted to show you this space, because I believe it encompasses all the elements you need to create a warm and inviting space, especially for the fall and winter months.
A few must-have pieces that created a warm environment for this space included a cozy throw, some fall greenery, and a pillow. It’s funny how any space can be completely transformed by throwing a blanket and some throw pillows on it. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
A quick summary of all the elements I have used to make a warm, and inviting FALL Decorated home:
- decorative signs
- a few fall touches such as white pumpkins
- blankets or throws
To help you out a little, I’ve found some of these key elements at a fair price. I love Amazon because I can find so many great decorating pieces at a steal! Here are a few below that would bring warmth and a “fall flair” to any space.
I hope this post has shown you that decorating for the different seasons doesn’t have to be labor intensive. With just a few easy FALL DECORATIONS, you can transform any home.
